Glen Cedars Golf Club – Celebrating 40

Years Since 1968 Glen Cedars Golf Club is a mature, picturesque golf course and a favourite of many golfers in the Durham and Toronto area. This 18-hole course is challenging and enjoyable in a country setting. The Clubhouse was completely renovated last year, and a new fleet of GPS equipped Power Carts makes this the perfect location for your next golf outing. The Greater Toronto Area’s first dragon is rising from the ashes of a former countryside tree farm in the west end of the region just north of Burlington.

While the 18-hole daily fee facility has been three years in the making, golf course architect Boris Danoff and owner Bryan DeCunha can’t wait for Dragon’s Fire Golf Club to take flight in May when the course opens to the public.

“Dragon myths and legends have been around since the dawn of time and we hope we have created something special here that is true both to their magical spirit and to the spirit of the game, thus creating a memorable golf experience,” says DeCunha. 

The secrets dwelling within Dragon’s Fire’s walkable parkland layout are guarded by some 80 well-positioned and masterfully crafted bunkers, tree-lined fairways and an abundance of natural hazards. DeCunha, the former managing partner of Royal Ontario Golf Club in Milton, called upon Danoff, a Torontobased architect who recently co-designed Thundering Waters GC in Niagara Falls with John Daly, to create a player friendly layout.

Mill Run Golf and Country Club is a unique, full-service golf facility with a difference: all the amenities of a private club, available to the public. Located just east of Newmarket and only 40 minutes from downtown Toronto, Mill Run has become a favourite of Durham and GTA golfers alike.

Away from the hustle and bustle, you immediately feel relaxed and welcome at Mill Run. The original 18-hole Championship Course was designed by the legendary Rene Muylaert.

New last season, Mill Run added a much needed third nine to the championship course layout. Aptly named The Grind, it combines a demand for precise shot-making with breathtaking scenery. This addition makes the Championship Course a must-play for 2008.

Many areas across the United States have experienced success by linking centrally located golf courses and branding them as a trail, paying homage to not only the game itself but to the journey associated with arriving at a particular destination.

Six great golf courses, all within an hour of the Toronto area, have similarly joined forces in an effort to deliver one memorable experience north of the border.

The Toronto Highlands Golf Trail brand prides itself as having the best golf north of the city and features a collection of courses complete with rolling hillsides, lush valleys and the unique terrain of the Oak Ridges Moraine.
