They’re not making getaways like this anymore, anywhere. The Briars Resort, located just an hour north of Toronto, is now under the watchful eye of the fifth generation of the Sibbald family that first began welcoming guests to the south end of Lake Simcoe during the late eighteenth century. The hospitality shown back then in the old Manor House spread to cottages that line the golf course, more rooms in the main house and nearby tower, indoor and outdoor pools, kayaking and a full-fledged state-of-the-art spa.
