Kaneff Golf

Print E-mail
The Kaneff name has been synonymous with quality and a commitment to excellence for over 45 years. Mr. Ignat Kaneff, respected as a leader in development and construction, is now a strong presence in the golfing community. The 2002 season will see th opening of two new facilities, the hosting of a major Canadian golf event and the amalgamation of all six courses into one family: Kaneff Golf.
Established in 1989 to rave reviews, Lionhead Golf and Country Club is regarded as the flagship course of the Kaneff Golf Group. Lionhead boasts two acclaimed courses that have received national and international awards for design and difficulty. Immaculately groomed and visually stunning, the Legends course is ranked third most difficult public course in North America. The Masters course acts as the gentle brother to the fiery Legends, with a mature layout that is poised and patient. The Masters presents a pleasurable mix of larger greens and wider fairways, and features an extremely tough stretch of finishing holes highlighted by a 575-yard par-5 to an island green.

In keeping with the Kaneff tradition of quality, Royal Niagara has become a “must play” destination in the Niagara region. Respect for the layout is quickly gaining speed as it has been named the host club for the inaugural Perfectly Natural Championship of Canada. This two-day competition, to be held May 20 and 21, 2002, will produce a truly Canadian champion as a 12-man field of PGA and Canadian tour players vie for the crown and a $250,000 purse.

The two newest jewels in the Kaneff crown are set to open this spring. Royal Ontario and Century Pines are exciting layouts that offer challenge to all levels of golfers. Located in Milton, the much anticipated Royal Ontario Golf Club features tall stands of mature trees that line each fairway and shape each green. Each hole has its own unique character to keep golfers anticipating every moment.
Century Pines, located near Peter’s Corners, Flamborough, has been under construction for more than a year. The previous layout has been completely redesigned to add over a thousand yards to its original length. No expense has been spared in its renovations as, the finest bentgrass covers the lush tee decks, rolling fairways and undulating greens.

Also new for 2002 is the redesigned Streetsville Glen Golf Course. The course is now 18 holes consisting of a mix of the previous three nines, as well as several new holes, the result being a more enjoyable golf experience for all skill levels.

Continuing as a great choice in the Burlington area, Carlisle Golf and Country Club is unchanged for the coming season. The 27 holes that meander through he beautiful country landscape feature mature pines, bentgrass fairways and over 75 Ohio sand bunkers. Carlisle was also selected by Score Golf Magazine as one of the top 20 “women friendly” courses in Canada.

The six facilities of the Kaneff Golf Group have come together to offer public and corporate players the very best in golf and dining experiences. Following in the footsteps of Lionhead Golf and Country Club, all Kaneff golf courses provide golfing pleasure that is second to none. For tournament and membership information or general inquiries for all Kaneff golf courses, call (905) 455-8700 or visit their website at www.kaneffgolf.com.
