CALGARY, Alberta, Canada - CN, the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) and the Calgary Sport Tourism Authority are pleased to announce that Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club in Priddis, Alta. has been selected as host venue for the 2009 CN Canadian Women’s Open. Priddis Greens Country Club

"The RCGA along with our partner CN is delighted to announce that Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club has been selected to host the 2009 CN Canadian Women’s Open.” said Rick Desrochers, RCGA Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Championships. With a committed partner in the Calgary Sport Tourism Authority and a tremendous championship worthy venue, we’ve got great momentum building for what will no doubt be a fantastic CN Canadian Women’s Open in 2009.”

The announcement marks the return of Canada’s only stop on the LPGA Tour to Calgary since LPGA Tour Hall of Famer Karrie Webb won the 1999 (former) du Maurier Classic at Priddis Greens.

“We are very pleased to have been granted the rights to host the 2009 CN Canadian Women’s Open,” said Doug Mitchell, Chairman of the Calgary Sport Tourism Authority. “Calgary has an outstanding reputation for hosting international sport events, and we expect that the 2009 CN Canadian Women’s Open will enjoy tremendous success. This is one of the premier tournaments in women’s professional golf and it will be a wonderful opportunity for Calgarians to see the best female golfers in the world.”

"The Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club is proud to be selected as host site for the 2009 CN Canadian Women’s Open and we're thrilled to have the best female players in the world return to our Club for a second time,” said Greg Nichols, the club's President. “As we proved in the past, the members of the club, the surrounding community, and the City of Calgary will show tremendous support for this prestigious event and its charities, both as spectators and volunteers. I'm also confident the Calgary business community will be eager to get involved in the event. It is an exciting opportunity for us, and we look forward to working with CN and the RCGA on making the 2009 CN Canadian Women’s Open a great success."Priddis Greens Country Club

2009 will mark the second time in the past three years that Alberta has played host to the CN Canadian Women's Open. World no. 1 Lorena Ochoa took home the 2007 CN Canadian Women’s Open trophy at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton. The event raised more than $546,000 dollars for the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton through the CN Miracle Match Program.

The 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open will take place August 11-17 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the club. The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) has been designated as the official charity of the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open.
Tickets for the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open can be purchased online at www.cncanadianwomensopen.com or by calling 1-866-571-LPGA.
